Courtney was released today!

I'm at work but Christopher just called to say Courtney's been released from jail today! He said she was anxious to get out and asked 'When can I meet Michael and Lila?' Ahhh! I'm so excited! I thought she would be released thurs or friday & it would be too soon to come down so I moved all my clients from NEXT weekend to THIS weekend! lol. Murphy's law right? So it's likely we'll be in atlanta next weekend to meet her....
I have about scrapped the scarf idea for a first meeting gift and am considering another but I need MORE gift ideas so suggest away! Remember, she will be in simple temporary surroundings so keep it simple and thoughtful. smile. ok, back to work....

Since she wants to go to Cosmotology School - and you have the years of knowledge about that - would she need some essential "tools" to get started???

I'm with Denise - what about a nice pair of scissors or maybe an apron or lucky brush or something...I'm thinking scissors that are engraved.

I love the "tools" idea! Something to underline and italicize something you have in common. I am so excited for you guys!

Cute ideas so far...not sure if this is up your alley or not. You could always put a small basket together. A "recovery" basket? Gift card to a spa, free pedi or mani?, get her hair done, nail polishes, face mask. Not sure how casual you wanna make it, but can be appreciated now and certainly after baby. Again, not sure if this is too much for her circumstance, but I think casual and fun! Anyhow, good luck! It's really exciting and we will keep our fingers, toes, etc crossed for you!

Hey Lila,
What about a cool journal she could start for the baby? Maybe you could write on the first page, "It's about Love"....

Happy heart, smile...lov ya...so happy...be brave...
in prayer for you,

I like all the ideas - but especially the basket idea. Probably because you could pamper her yourself... :-)

I LOVE IT. GREAT IDEAS GUYS! KEEP UM COMING. SINCE SHEARS COST AROUND $200.00 I'M PRETTY SURE THAT WONT WORK BUT I LIKE THE WAY YOUR THINKING! THROUGH EMAILS AND COMMENTS, I WILL PUT A POLL UP FOR EVERYONE TO VOTE! POLLS ARE FUN! LOVE, LILA

I just wanted to chime in and say how excited I am for you guys! I am following your journey and praying for everyone involved in this huge process.
I'm not much help with the gift ideas. I was thinking a simple beauty gift basket or maybe a gift certificate for getting some new clothes (I know NOTHING I owned fit for a long time after being pregnant--and it was no fun to wear maternity clothes again).

hmmm. Interesting ideas for gift. What did your brother get their birth mom?

I think going a different route..since she is getting out of jail and about to start a new life...a Bible and a nice bible cover. They have some really cute ones out. Wonder if she has one? I don't know that may be too touchy.

I got so excited when I read your text yesterday. I pray it all goes well. Maybe when your there next weekend she'll go in labor!
Good luck!

I was thinking a journal too- not necessarily one for the baby, but surely she has alot of emotions right now that she might want to record. Or, what about a nice fleece blanket?

I'm SO excited for you!!!

That is so very exciting!!! Okay, here is my thought- take it as you will. Maybe get her something to comfort her through the rest of her pregnancy. I didn't read anyone else's comments really except about a beauty basket. That would be a good idea too.

Okay, I'll stop and take your poll.

I like the gift basket, or maybe a gift cert for a pregnancy or post-natal massage.

I am so happy for you! I bet you are a bundle of nerves! I don't have any great suggestions for gifts. You are a smart and thoughtful person, go with your instincts. That's my advice. Call me if you need to chat!
