my baby can blow his nose! all parents of babies and appreciate that, especially when their little one is sick longer than they need to be all because they can't get their mucus out. ;) so pleased with my little munchkin.
evan woke up today happy, bouncing and 'talking'. i went to get him as usual. well, i will describe what i found. a jumping baby in only a diaper with all 5 of his blankets, 2 pillows, his p.j. top and p.j. bottom all outside his bed on the ground and a proud grin on his face. yes i took a picture but it's much more difficult lately to upload pictures so there's the description.
today evan ate his first peanut butter and jelly sandwich! he didn't die and he really likes it. :) it may have been a little peanut buttery so next time I'll thin out the pb.
i talked to courtney this afternoon on the phone. it was so great to hear her voice. she really sounds more mature through the experiences she's had in the last 16months. i'm so proud of her. based on the descriptions she's given us, i really believe she raised herself. the challenge that can come from that is the parents that should have raised her a passed the wisdom they should have had, to her, failed her. she didn't have the 'older and wiser' parents, they were busy being very in the moment and self centered with their choices (in my perspective but it's all courtney knows). Luckily she had a lot of guidance from her grandparents who do have wisdom.i think it's where she get's any of her sense from. i think it's hard for her to see her grandparents as young enough to know what is right for her but they do know. i hope one day, because she deserves every wonderful thing in life, that she will understand their guidance and follow the good things they say. with that said, she has so many good instincts! i cannot fathom how she could focus on placing a baby for adoption while 17 when other 17 year olds would think it's a great idea for them to raise a child without a mother AND father, a stable home, job and surroundings. courtney wasn't raised in that but knew evan needed it. she figured that out on her own and through prayer! how can you not love her and hope she will make it in life. unfortunately she still struggles with many of the same things she has since we've known her but in true fashion, she always holds her head up and thinks positive. she listed all the good things ahead, including finding work and finishing her education (without parents no less! or family to guide her. dad is estranged, mom died in a car accident a few years ago and currently not speaking to her grandparents but it striving to make that relationship right). i know i don't know courtney as her family does. i definitely don't know all the things that have happened in her life to make her who she is. she could be lying to me all these months for all i know but i'm grateful to see her as a child of god, full of potential, yearning for goodness (but getting so much disappointment) from life and love. just like our children, we want to see them do their best in life. well, i know our father in heaven wants that and more for us, every joy we can think of that is good and pure. i want those things for courtney and i'm pretty sure she's on her way, albeit slowly, IN her way to success and i can't wait to tell evan about her journey. something i didn't have to live for him to think about and appreciate but lucky for him, he has two mommies to be proud of and love. I know i will hear more downs but she will have many ups too and one day, she is bound to break through the mold set in her life and live the life the Lord intended for her. i look forward to hearing about that day. we love you courtney, always. ;)
